{"id":81,"date":"2009-08-07T18:19:54","date_gmt":"2009-08-08T01:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asktheatheist.com\/?p=81"},"modified":"2009-08-07T18:19:54","modified_gmt":"2009-08-08T01:19:54","slug":"scientific-evolution-the-art-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asktheatheist.com\/?p=81","title":{"rendered":"Scientific Evolution: the art show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We got a request to publicise a month-long <a href=\"http:\/\/www.distinctionart.com\/current.php\">exhibition in California<\/a> named, and themed, <em>Scientific Evolution<\/em>.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n10% of the proceeds from the show will go towards stem cell research, which is a great thing, but they&#8217;re pretty sure it&#8217;s hurt their publicity campaign.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve done as they asked for two reasons.  One, any publicity for evolution itself is good when the principal weapon against its acceptance is ignorance.  Two, it&#8217;s very probable that the negative publicity for this art stems directly from conservative religious groups, and (imagine Marvin the Martian&#8217;s voice) this makes me very angry.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you&#8217;re in California, see whether the exhibition would interest you.  If not, have a look round for any protestation against it.
